The Country Music Awards 2021 – Read All the Highlights
The long-awaited Country Music Awards 2021 finally happened on November 11th 2021. In their 55th year, this awards ceremony was greeted with much enthusiasm from the performers, the fans, and of course, the audience. It’s been a long year – and the COVID-19 pandemic wasn’t going to put a downer on the ceremony. After all, people haven’t been able to attend any live awards for such a long time without restrictions so to see some normality back in play was hugely welcomed.
A Brief History of the Country Music Awards 2021
This year’s awards, along with all the other awards’ ceremonies of the past, was decided by a panel of over 7,000 musical experts of the CMA (The Country Music Association). The CMA first came to being in 1958 and their first awards show was held nine years later in 1967 however it took another year before they were broadcast on Network television with NBC being the first channel to air them in 1968. The longest ever awards in the category, they are aired every year but since 2006, the awards have been shown on ABC TV where they’ve remained ever since.
The Host of the Country Music Awards 2021
The awards ceremony of 2021 was hosted by Country and Western singer Luke Bryan. During the night, the coveted awards were given interspersed with some outstanding musical performances. Without doubt, the most notable award went to Chris Stapleton who took home Male Vocalist 2021 but also took home the Single, Song and Album 2021.
The Best Entertainer 2021 Country Music Award 2021
Giving the audience a little surprise, Luke Combs received the Entertainer 2021 award, and it was the first time ever that he picked up the accolade. He managed to pip Eric Church, Chris Stapleton, Carrie Underwood, and Miranda Lambert to the post, and he was extremely appreciative as well as surprised when he took to the stage and made his acceptance speech.
The Female Vocalist 2021 Country Music Awards 2021
Another of the key awards of the Country Music Awards 2021 is the Female Vocalist 2021 which went to Carly Pearce who was so appreciative that she cried and couldn’t get her words out! Instead, her friend had to make the acceptance speech on her account, such was the highly charged emotion of the night.
The New Artist 2021 Award
Jimmie Allen received the coveted New Artist 2021 Award, and he was the second ever black performer in Country and Western music to be given it, which is an enormous achievement in itself, and it was great to see black singers being credited in this music genre.
The Vocal Duo 2021 Country Music Award
The Brothers Osborne won this award and the audience at the Country Music Awards 2021 were delighted to hear them sing Younger than Me on stage a little later on.
Other Impressive Performances at the Country Music Awards
There were numerous terrific on-stage performances by Country Music stars at the Country Music Awards 2021. Most notable include Lambert who sang three songs: Little Red Wagon, Blue Bird and Kerosene. The Combs also performed, with their new song Doing It. Also getting up on stage were McBryde and Pearce to sing their new song, Never Wanted to Be That Girl. Additionally, Jason Aldean together with Carrie Underwood sang out their hearts with If I Didn’t Love You. It was amazing to see the audience up on their feet when Deana Carter with Lainey Wilson took to the stage to sing Strawberry Wine.
